Tailored therapy.

IPA brings a variety of skills and experience but we believe in a single approach.

Our approach is distinctive in that we view our clients as individuals, not as diagnostic labels. Psychological distress is understood as a combination of environment, biology, and developmental stress. As such, our focus is on helping people identify and overcome obstacles specific to their own experience in order to better live the lives they want. Given the broad range of differences in individual development and adaptation, we do not believe in a “one treatment for every problem” approach based on a particular psychological theory or mode of training. Rather, we strive to create a treatment environment that is custom-tailored to the concerns presented by each client. In addition, we emphasize the “goodness of fit” between the therapist and the individual and/or family, where both parties are able to develop the necessary rapport and trust needed to establish a dynamic working alliance. While as a team we share many core competencies, we are also mindful of our unique skills, experiences, and styles that inform our individual treatment approaches, and endeavor to find the best match between clinician and client.
